How to Grow Out Your Natural Nails

Growing your natural nails is simple and fun!
Get to know yourself, recognize your strengths & weakness most of all be patient!

The first step in effective nail growth is to get your nails in their healthiest state.

 Ditch those acrylic nails!

Be cautious of your nail polish remover.
Avoid using 100% pure acetone on your natural nails, its harsh content can strip natural oils from your nail bed, cuticles & skin.

Use regular nail polish remover OR nail polish remover with things such as vitamin E OR one labeled as “nail strengthening”

File your nails often
-       Filing your nails at least once a week gets the frail corners & tips to avoid them getting caught or chipping later.
-       Start from outside edges & file towards the center.
Choose the right shape for YOU!

Paint your nails!
    ⁃    Keep your cuticles & nails well-groomed.
⁃    Nail polish acts as an extra protective layer for your nails helping them to be stronger.
⁃    Prior to applying a base coat clean excessive dirt and oils off your nail beds with rubbing alcohol.
⁃    Then Use your favorite base coat to protect the nail bed.

Below are some of my favorites:
-Essie base coat: $8.99 at Target – Sets a smooth foundation
-Sally Hansen base coat: $4.00 at Walgreens – Cheapest option
-Chelly base coat: $2.99 at Walgreens- Dries quick
-OPI base coat: $8.99 Sally Sets a smooth foundation

Have fun with colors don't forget to switch it up ladies!

IF…..
Color is not your thing, you can apply two layers of clear or natural nude polish to protect your nails.
Apply at least two layers of polish so it last longer and more protection.

Top coat is essential it gives you that extra protection layer & helps your polish last longer with that extra shine.

My favorites:

  • Essie gel top coat: $10.99 at Target- My holy grail one of my favorite go to! It dries in seconds gives your nails LIFE with "gel" effect without sitting under the UV light for hours.
  • Sally Hansen top coat:  99¢ at Walgreens- Cheaper alternative and shineeesss
  • OPI top coat: Sally's $8.99 at Sally- Thick in consistency and gives you lots of shine and smooth finish
  • Chelly top coat: Walgreens $2.99 the base and top coat are usually on sale at Walgreens 2/ $4 Dries fast leaves a shiny & smooth finish.

Be gentle
Avoid using your nails as tools.
Grabbing something? Use your fingertips!
Once our nails begin to grow it is common for us to want to use our finger nails to open containers, peal labels & opening key rings.
Try not to apply too much pressure to your nails. Over time your nails will bend can get weak and break.

Moisturize
The more lubricated your hands are the less likely your nails will get brittle and crack.
After washing your hands or when you feel your hands getting dry, just basic lotion will do
